Some Things Never Go Out OF Fashion

Tastes in property improvements and garden design change. OK, maybe they don’t change as quickly as high street fashion, but they do shift. Some things, however, never go out of fashion. Like value, for example, and quality. Two things that we supply along with every single pattern imprinted concrete driveway (or other surface) that we install.

We’ve been in the construction and surfacing industry for a long time, and have a massive amount of experience when it comes to both domestic and commercial pattern imprinted concrete surfaces. We’ve completed all manner of projects, across the North West and further afield. Take a look around the case studies section of our website for examples of what we’re capable of, and what other people in your position have ended up choosing.

We understand that driveway design is based on personal preference as much as it is technical considerations. Pattern imprinted concrete is the perfect material for such projects, because it’s technical strength isn’t linked to its visual appearance. You could have one pattern imprinted concrete driveway resembling slate, and one printed with a brick pattern, and there would be no appreciable difference in their durability and longevity. You pick the pattern and the colour, we’ll sort out the rest… sound like a good deal? Interested in a free quote?

    Make Your Driveway Last Longer

Concrete lasts for a long time; it’s tough stuff. And with surfaces like driveways and patios, correctly positioned and cut crack control joints will minimise cracking and other structural issues. A good contractor will know all about crack control joints, especially around features like manhole covers. Don’t be shy when it comes to asking about them when you’re talking to your contractor before the installation begins. If you’ve picked a good firm, like ourselves, then it should all be in hand.

The most important step you can take to ensure that your pattern imprinted concrete surface lasts as long as it should is to regularly reseal. Don’t worry: by regularly we mean every three to five years, it isn’t a weekly task!

You contractor should seal your pattern imprinted concrete driveway once it has been installed and has set. By resealing it you’ll maintain the impermeable surface of the driveway, meaning that water and other substances can’t damage the porous concrete.

It’s important to clean your driveway before re-sealing. It’s even more important to make sure that your driveway isn’t wet before you reseal it. Moisture trapped between layers of sealant can cause a number of different problems with the appearance of your driveway. In the worst cases, it can cause de-lamination, which is when sealant flakes off your driveway, leaving the concrete exposed.

We offer a complete resealing service. Contact us for more information. Don’t forget how important it is to reseal; a well finished pattern imprinted concrete drive or patio is a beautiful thing, and it’d be a shame to let it get damaged.

Things You Never Knew About Concrete #4

Concrete; it never ceases to amaze. For a material first discovered in ancient roman times, it’s currently going through a so many advances that it’s starting to resemble something from science fiction. Not necessarily the type of concrete that we use in our pattern imprinted driveway and patio installations, mind; we’re talking about the new types of concrete which are being developed in design labs across the world.

Here’s a new development; bendable, self-healing concrete. This new composite can bend – not something that traditional construction concrete is well known for. When it bends it cracks; these cracks are auto-sealed when moisture – rain, for example – and atmospheric carbon dioxide come into contact with the concrete. The water, carbon dioxide and exposed concrete form calcium carbonate, “scarring” over the cracks in the concrete. And there you have it; concrete that can bend until it cracks, then heal itself.

This concrete has a great number of potential applications, although we won’t be using it for our pattern imprinted concrete driveways. The ability to bend dramatically isn’t really high on our list when it comes to driveway surfacing features. And, as the article linked to above explains, the bendable, self-healing concrete costs at least triple the cost of normal construction concrete. That’s an expense that we can’t see our pattern imprinted concrete driveway and patio customers being happy with.

Your Layout Isn’t Set In Stone

Things get put off, don’t they? The average household has all manner of unfinished or not-even-started DIY jobs that someone has been avoiding for years. And that goes double for larger projects that involve getting a contractor in. The expense is just another factor that’ll make you less than keen to get it dealt with.

Well, our advice is to get stuck in. Of course, being exactly the kind of contractors you’d want to install your new driveway or patio, we would say that. But it’s still sound advice; home improvements will have a direct and positive impact on the use you get out of your home, and on the re-sale value of your property.

All of our projects start with a design consultation, addressing each customer’s unique requirements. And who knows, maybe it’ll spur you on to complete the rest of your home improvement/ DIY tasks?

    Trust Your Contractor

When you arrange for a third party to provide a service, it’s important that you can trust them. It’s especially important when the service is a construction task, like the installation of a pattern imprinted concrete driveway. But how can you be sure that the contractor you’ve contacted is trustworthy? After all, cowboys and con men will always do their best to disguise what they actually are. That’s how they fool ordinary people.

There are a few things to look out for that’ll prove a contractor’s legitimacy. They should have a business address and full contact details, and shouldn’t be shy about sharing them. We’re Bury-based, as you can see on our homepage, and we actively encourage people to contact us for free quotes and other queries; we don’t aggressively doorstep people.

They should also be able to show you examples of previous work that they’ve completed. That might be through a brochure or similar document. We’ve dedicated a section of our website to showing off our case studies, so you can view before and after photographs, and read a little bit of information about some of the different projects we’ve completed. As you can see if you take a look around the case studies, we’ve got satisfied customers across the northwest. Salford, Preston, Bury, Urmston, Crewe… we’ve done a fair amount of travelling for our customers.

So, there’s a couple of things to look out for. Feel free to get in touch with us if you’d like a quote from a contractor you know you can rely on.
